Following a win at the RBC Heritage on the weekend, Matt Kuchar has switched his focus to the Ryder Cup.

The American has ruled out competing at July's Scottish Open in an effort to focus on the Ryder Cup, which takes place at Gleneagles in September.

Kuchar's solid performance denied second place Englishman Luke Donald his first win on US soil in two years, as well as his own chance to impress before Ryder Cup selection.

The 35-year-old. has been a mainstay in the last two US Ryder Cup teams and is excited about competing in Scotland.

"I just love playing golf in Scotland and just looking forward to the Ryder Cup," said Kuchar, whose victory at Harbour Town moved him up to number five in the world rankings.

"It's just not to be right in the mix for the Ryder Cup and I'm just excited about the Ryder Cup itself as you don't want to miss out."

Meanwhile, veteran Miguel Angel Jimenez grabbed his first ever senior tour event win, on debut to boot, when he trounced defending champion Bernhard Langer at the Greater Gwinnett Championship in Atlanta.

Kuchar could face the likes of the cigar-toting Spaniard at Gleneagles, a match-up he is looking forward too.

"Miguel is just fantastic and what he did at the Masters the other week shows he's on good form and if here were to make the European Team he would be a deserved player," added the seven time PGA Tour winner.

"So I have no problem if he makes the European Team and if he plays like he did at Augusta and in winning in Atlanta then he's going to be a tough opponent."
