2010 US Tour schedule released

Despite the economic downturn, the 2010 US Tour season will have a full schedule of 41 events.

For the third straight season, the schedule will feature 37 regular-season events and four Playoff Series events to decide the FedEx Cup champion.

"We are very pleased to announce our schedule through the 2010 FedExCup season," commissioner Tim Finchem said in a statement. "Despite difficult economic times we once again have a full slate of events."

The PGA Tour have also announced that they won't be tinkering with the FedExCup's points system.

Rick George, chief of operations for the PGA Tour, said any adjustment to the points system was not on the agenda and not discussed at a policy board meeting earlier this week.

"We think the FedExCup did a lot of positive things and met the objectives we set for it," George said. "We don't anticipate it changing."

Most of The Fall Series events, which follow the Tour Championship (the FedEx Cup finale), have yet to be announced. However, there is one change.

The Frys.com Open is to move from Arizona to California from 2010 it has been announced. The tournament has been staged at the Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale for the past three years with Troy Matteson winning this year's edition after a play-off last month. But it will now head west to California with the Corde Valle Golf Club in San Martin playing host.

Changes from 2009 schedule:

The Buick Open is no longer and has been replaced by The Greenbrier Classic which will make its debut from July 29-Aug. 1 in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia while new dates have been given for the Turning Stone Resort Championship and the Reno-Tahoe Open.

The Turning Stone moves from the Fall Series to the FedExCup season and will take place from Aug. 5-8. The Reno-Tahoe Open will be brought forward to July 15-18, the same week as The Open at St Andrews.

SBS, the Seoul Broadcasting System, are the new sponsors of the season-opener at Kapalua in Hawaii.
