Day, McIlroy and Mickelson paired up at PGA

With the 2016 PGA Championship teeing off on Thursday, we thought we would take a look at some of the superstar groupings.

The high profile group to follow for the opening two round at Baltusrol Golf Club in the final major of the year is undoubtedly the talented trio of Jason Day, Rory McIlroy and Phil Mickelson.

Day is the defending champion of the event while McIlroy is still hunting his fifth major win. Meanwhile, Mickelson will no doubt be buoyed by his superb runner-up finish at The Open.

Speaking of, Open champion Henrik Stenson will play alongside Masters winner Danny Willett and US Open champion Dustin Johnson in star-studded group of current champions.

Another trio sure to draw a big crowd consists of world number three Jordan Spieth, Spain's Sergio Garcia and the ever-popular Bubba Watson.

Martin Kaymer features in a group of former PGA champions, including 2009 winner YE Yang, Jason Dufner who won in 2013 and of course the German himself, who was victorious in 2010.

The talented Rickie Fowler will tee off with four time major winner Ernie Els and 2015 Champion Golfer of the Year Zach Johnson.
