Lovemark, Vegas ahead at Zurich Classic
Jamie Lovemark and Jhonattan Vegas share the lead at the Zurich Classic, which was suspended due to rain and darkness.
Lovemark and Vegas, who are both on 11-under, are followed by overnight leader Brian Stuard, who is on 10-under, but only managed to get through 12 holes.
Harold Varner III occupies fourth place on the leaderboard on eight-under after firing a five-under-par 67.
World number one Jason Day is on five-under after 10 holes, while defending champion Justin Rose is on track to miss the cut after carding a level-par 72.
Lovemark, who recorded a six-under-par 66, overcame the hot and humid conditions early on to complete a 67 in the first round before going on to start his second round with consecutive birdies at the third and fourth, where he made a 28-foot birdie putt. Despite a bogey at the sixth, Lovemark bounced back with successive birdies at the seventh and eighth to round off the front nine.
The American continued to excel on the back nine as he made a trio of birdies to finish his second round before the bad weather stopped play.
Vegas also had to complete his first round, in which he registered a brilliant 64. While he has unable to mirror his performance in the second round, he still managed to card a three-under-par 69, which began with him making a birdie at the 10th before he faltered at the par-five 11th, where he recorded a double bogey after his approach shot went out of bounds.
The 31-year-old fought back, though, as he made two birdies to wrap up his front nine before proceeding to make two more birdies on his back nine.
After nothing but pars on his front nine, Stuard seemed to be finding his groove as he made consecutive birdies at the first and second, but he was forced to stop due to bad weather and darkness.
Day, who is the first world number one to play at the event since David Duval in 1999, only made one birdie on the front nine, which came at the eighth, and made another one at the 10th before play was suspended.
Meanwhile, Rose fired his second successive round of 72, which consisted of three birdies and three bogeys.
