Day committed to Olympics

Jason Day has revealed he is fully committed to Australia's Olympic cause in Rio come August.

The world number one has bucked the current trend of top golfers giving the global showpiece a miss.

Fellow countryman Adam Scott revealed he would not be partaking while South African duo Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel also made it clear they won't be there.

On the contrary, Day can't wait to represent his country.

"It'd be a really fantastic honour to win a gold medal, or any medal, in the Olympics," the PGA Championship winner told Golf Magic.

Day went on to defend his fellow players that have opted out of the Olympics, saying that it has never really been considered as a priority.

"You can't really get angry at golfers for saying that they're going to pull out of the Olympics," he added.

"It's never been on our radar to ever win a gold medal."

Golf will making its first appearance at the Summer Games since 1904 and will feature a 60-man field playing over four rounds.
