Day sets his sights on Pebble Beach
As the Pebble Beach Pro-Am gets underway on Valentine’s Day, Jason Day has expressed his desire to put in some good performances this year after an injury and illness-plagued season so far.
The injury-prone Day has only managed to start one tournament this year but even that didn’t go well, as he was unable to defend his USA PGA Tour title at Torrey Pines after he missed the cut.
However, the Australian has said that he is feeling much better now and will be hoping to rekindle his 2015 form at Pebble Beach.
"The important thing is I'm healthier now and ready to move on," he told AAP.
"I'm ready to get into my season proper and build on everything we did last year."
With American Rickie Fowler closing in on his number three spot on the world rankings, the 28-year-old admitted that he is going to have to play catch up as world number one Jordan Spieth and four-time major winner Rory McIlroy are pulling away from him.
"You know those guys are going to continue to play well and it just drives me to do the same and be better, work harder, and be ready for the fight," said Day.
"I'm hoping for a good week this week to be back amongst it all."
