Day wins Greg Norman Medal

Australia's Jason Day became the first recipient of the Greg Norman Medal on Tuesday.

The inaugural award was presented to Australia's best performing tour professional on the international stage.

After a fantastic year, Day edged Adam Scott, Steven Bowditch and Karrie Webb to take the honours.

Following his win at the RCB Canadian Open in July, the Queenslander enjoyed a golden stretch, which saw him win three events out of his next six starts, including a maiden major victory at the PGA Championships.

"It's an honour and a privilege to win the Greg Norman Medal, it caps off an amazing year," said the world number two upon receiving the award.

"I'd like to thank the PGA of Australia for launching this medal with Greg Norman and their support over the past 10 years."

Meanwhile, two-time major winner Norman was on had to heap praise on his fellow countryman.

"Jason is a wonderful ambassador for golf and it's fantastic to see him add the Greg Norman Medal to his list of successes,” he said.
