Parnevik eyes Ryder Cup captaincy

Jesper Parnevik may not be heading the queue to lead Europe at the Ryder Cup - but he certainly wouldn't say no to the chance.
The Swede is preparing to return to action after being hampered by a string of injuries over the past four years.
Parnevik turned out at the Ryder Cup in 1997, 1999 and 2002, and with his best playing days seemingly behind him, the 47-year-old's only chance of returning to the Ryder Cup fold could be as captain.
"Absolutely," he told Golfmagic.com at a PGA Show when asked if it was a role that interested him. "It would be a great honour for me. To become Ryder Cup captain is one of the greatest achievements in golf."
The 1999 edition of the Ryder Cup is one that Parnevik remembers fondly, despite seeing Europe lose by a point, with the Swede forming a formidable partnership with Sergio Garcia.
"I have great memories of the Ryder Cup as a player, particularly at Brookline with Sergio," he explained.
"Obviously we lost to the United States in pretty dramatic circumstances at the end but I personally had a great time playing with Sergio. We played every match together and went undefeated as a team with three-and-a-half points from four.
"Sergio was like an energiser bunny that week and he got me pretty excited out there at times. I had a job to calm him down, though. The chemistry we had out there was priceless."
