Rose perturbed by penalty

World number four Justin Rose said the one-shot penalty issued against him during the Qatar Open was unjustified.

Rose, who carded a four-under-par 68 on the first round of the tournament, said he was a victim of circumstance.

Rose was about to tap the ball in on the 17th hole, when it moved. However, Rose insists he is not the reason the ball moved.

"I feel completely hard done by. The greens here aren't perfect - there were a lot of little ridges and humps and hollows out there. Indentations I suppose," said Rose.

"It was unfortunate timing as I put my putter behind the ball which I know didn't cause it to move.

"But it was at the same time the ball was finding a little indentation on the green which obviously caused it to move," added a disgruntled Rose.

The penalty left Rose three shots off the pace at the Qatar Masters.
