Jamieson returns to 'special' Durban

Scott Jamieson: Heading south again

Just weeks after winning the inaugural Nelson Mandela Challenge, Scott Jamieson heads back to Durban hoping for more success.

The 29-year-old secured his maiden European Tour victory at Royal Durban at the start of December after shooting a second round eight-under-par 57 in the rain-shortened event, before beating England's Steve Webster and Spaniard Edoardo de la Riva in a play-off.

Jamieson will travel back to the South African coastal city this week to take part in the Volvo Champions at the Durban Golf Club, which is just 15 minutes away from where he tasted success last month.

"It's going to be really nice travelling back to Durban," he said.

"The city will always be special to me given it's where I won my first Tour event and only just last month, so in some ways I wasn't expecting to be back here so soon.

"So to have qualified for the Volvo Champions is now even more special and hopefully I can win the Durban double."

The Volvo Champions has a field of 33 'winners only' and a first-prize cheque of €350,000 is up for grabs.

One of the big draw cards in Durban will no doubt be Ernie Els, who finished runner-up to Brendan Grace last year at Fancourt, following his Open Championship success last year.
