The first round of the season-opening Hyundai Tournament of Champions was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.
American Webb Simpson was leading the event at three-under after seven holes when the event was stopped, but despite several players starting their rounds on time, the event will be restarted on Saturday.
"I got off to a great start, but it's how it goes. The good news is, I'm playing well. I'll try to carry it into tomorrow, Simpson commented at the end of the day's play.
"It started off bad and got worse," the PGA Tour's vice president of rules and operations Slugger White commented.
"It was pretty nasty out there."
Play had been suspended on two occasions with wind reaching speeds of up 45m/h before play was eventually halted for the day.
The Players Championship in 2005 was the previous time a round was restarted.
"I got off to a great start, but it's how it goes. The good news is, I'm playing well. I'll try to carry it into tomorrow, Simpson commented at the end of the day's play.
The biggest benefactor of the restart is Scott Stallings, who was last at seven over after four holes.
"I was the biggest benefactor of the whole deal, but I'd like to know how Webb was three under through all that."
