USA to name Ryder Cup skipper
Last updated: 11th December 2012
The United States will appoint their next Ryder Cup captain on Thursday, it has been confirmed.
Ted Bishop, president of the Professional Golfers' Association of America, will announce the man to lead the Americans at Gleneagles in 2012 on a morning talk show.
David Toms, who was one of Davis Love III's assistant's during the USA's ill-fated campaign at Medinah earlier in the year, is one of the favourites for the position.
"It's one of the highest honours in golf," Toms said when asked about the position. "I would hope at some point in time I would get that opportunity.
"It's the best event in golf and to be able to captain a US team and somehow get a victory, that would certainly be one of the highlights of my career - if not the highlight."
