Luke Donald will undergo surgery in the off-season in an attempt to cure a problem with his sinuses.

The world number two has been hindered by a sinus problem for some time and has decided to take action to combat it after completing his 2012 season on Sunday.

"My sinuses are all completely clogged up and every time I get a little bit run down they turn into infections," the Briton told reporters in Dubai.

The 34-year-old reveals that the problem plagued him during the final two rounds at the DP World Tour Championship but refused to blame his subdued showing in the final round, where he could only muster a 71, on the problem.

"I don't like to make excuses but the last couple of days I've had the sinus issue again," he said. "I felt a little bit flat and unfortunately I couldn't get things going on Sunday."
