Fears that Graeme McDowell's season may have been ended by a hand injury have been calmed.

The Northern Irishman closed his hand in a hotel door in China last week prior to the second round of the WGC-HSBC Champions tournament.

McDowell played through the pain barrier to finish the competition in a tie for 42nd place.

The 33-year-old is not due to play until next week at the Australian Masters and took to Twitter to dispel fears that he had broken a bone.

"Busted up my hand a bit last night.. Had an argument with a door. Nothing broken. Just bruised and swollen," he wrote.
