Hanson named golfer of the month
Last updated: 2nd November 2012
Peter Hanson has scooped the European Tour's Golfer of the Month award for October following his win at the BMW Masters.
The 35-year-old Swede narrowly beat Ryder Cup team-mate Rory McIlroy by one shot at Lake Malaren in Shanghai last week.
The victory also helped him to move into second place behind world number one McIlroy in the Race to Dubai.
"I'm a little bit shocked, but it is a very nice shock - and the first time in my career that I have won it," Hanson said after being handed the award.
Besides Hanson, Branden Grace (January), Paul Lawrie (February), Rory McIlroy (March and August), Louis Oosthuizen (April), Luke Donald (May), Jamie Donaldson (June), Ernie Els (July) and Ian Poulter (September) are in the running for the 2012 Golfer of the Year award.
