I am annoyed that more comments have not be made about a young man playing in his first Open c/ship by the name of David Horsey. David hails from the Styal GC in Cheshire,he started playing golf at 15 and is now 23.He has in that time won numerous competions at junior level and went onto win the most points in last years Walker Cup.He turned Pro after that event and has won twice this year on the European Challenge Tour.He qualified for the Open and today although 8 over after 33 holes, hit birdie, eagle, birdie on the last three holes,no mean feat in itself over Birkdale, yet no one has even mentioned him.He has been inspirational to the youngsters/members at Styal GC under the guiudance of the clubs Pro's,Simon Forrest and Glyn Traynor. Please give credit to a youngster from the UK, who I have no doubt you will continue to hear about.

have had a few quid on duval at 400-500/1 after round 1 this guy was world number 1 in tiger era, open winner, 59 shooter -- alright he may have been out of touch for a while -- but surely deserves a bit more respect compared to some of these jokers playing?

Having followed your advice and lumped on both Mahan and Weekley, just wondering (living in hope really) what the worst first round score is for an Open winner ?

Dave, What happened to Sandy Lyle? I know he was +11 or so, but did he just walk off the course? Poor showing if he did. No doubt he will have some story about an injury! The reserve, Heath Slocum, is playing. Who didn't start? Sorry for all the questions. Pete

Maybe Ernie was given a 0 because the 50mph wind blew his ball into the hole without him taking a shot.
