Japan's Ryo Ishikawa insists he will maintain his attacking approach at The Open Championship despite the weather conditions.

The 17-year-old booked his place at the tournament when he claimed his first title of the year at the Mizuno Open on Sunday, rescuing the victory with a 30-yard chip-in for an eagle on the 16th hole as his form looked to have deserted him.

And, although his natural game may be affected by the wind when he heads to Turnberry from July 16-19, he has revealed that he has no plans to change tack.

"I think I have something to show, however minor it may be," he said.

"I hear it is windy out there and I don't think long driver shots alone will help, but I feel like going for broke.

Stable

"I may attack all the holes with my drivers."

However, he added: "I don't think I will have my way when I play there."

The Mizuno Open was the third career title on the Japan Golf Tour for Ishikawa, and he said: "This victory was my best ever.

"I play more stable golf now. I have a more solid feel.

"I cannot promise that I will win more tournaments this season, but now I am confident that I will be in title contention a number of times."
