Lucas Glover's win at the US Open was certainly a surprise, but it cannot be classed as a shock (think Rich Beem 2002 or John Daly 1991). He may have come to New York as the world's no.71, but Glover had been one of the most consistent twentysomethings during his six years on the PGA Tour and had already had two top-three finishes in 2009. He has also played pretty decently since his win at Bethpage Black, with 11th place in the Travelers Championship and fifth in the AT&T National. His record in majors - that US Open win apart - is poor, with a tie for 20th place his best result in 13 starts. He has also missed seven cuts in majors - including at last month's Open Championship. The USPGA is probably the major that suits his game best - of the four, it most closely resembles a regular PGA Tour event - but it is hard not to feel that Glover has had his moment in the sun - for this year at least.
