His record in the big events this year is poor but you can't deny the young American's talent.

After finishing second on his US Tour debut in 2006 great things were expected of Kim and he justified the hype as one of the 'next big things' by winning two quality events - Wachovia and the AT&T National (Tiger's tournament) - in 2008. Finishing runner-up at the season-opening Mercedes Championship seemed to suggest the young American was primed for a huge 2009 but, in truth, he's disappointed. Injury has played a part in that and there have been flashes of magic including a sensational second round at Augusta where he made a record-breaking 11 birdies. He's also posted a couple of top three finishes in his last four starts but the concern for Kim backers is his poor record in the big events. He missed the cut at Turnberry, couldn't make the top 15 in either the Masters or US Open and made no impression at all in the three WGC events. But where there's that much talent there's always hope. Tiger put him in his place in the final round of this year's AT&T but that was all good experience and he's shown he's a very fast learner. Kim is also ranked top of the putting stats this season so if he can keep the ball in play he could be one to watch.
