If you find yourself deep in the woods after an offline drive, always look for the easier way to get back into play.
Never go for the green if it means taking a big gamble and trying to thread or blast your way through the branches of the trees.
Very occasionally you may be lucky, but generally the odds are stacked against you. Gambling can only produce big numbers on your scorecard.
Rather play it safe and keep that score looking respectable.
