Odyssey goes black/white

Odyssey, whose iconic 2001 Two-Ball, White Hot putter made the brand globally famous, have come up with a new black-and-white concept they believe will take putters to a new high.
The Odyssey Versa collection uses a high-contrast, black-and-white theme instead of two balls to help the user make the right alignment and, according to Neil Howie, Managing Director of Callaway Golf, the owners of Odyssey putters, his company is confident that the European market, like the US market, will be extremely excited by the Odyssey Versa range.
"Our Odyssey two-Ball was the last major revolution in putting and the Versa high-contrast alignment system has taken our putters to the next level," Howie said.
Every putter in the new Versa collection features a new High Contrast Alignment system which utilises black and white contrast lines on the putter head, and that is what genuinely accentuates the face angle at address, both through the stroke and at impact.
This contrast, say Callaway, has been shown to boost golfers' chances of holing out from 10-15ft, with the putters coming in two colour ways - black-white-black, or white-black-white (see examples in the picture).
"Our goal," added Howie, "has always been to create products that will make the game more enjoyable and this range will certainly make a difference to golfers on the greens.
"The only question now is whether your eye will be drawn to a black-white-black or a white-black-white version of the Versa putter."
The Versa collection offers seven different types of putter heads, each in black/white or white/black colourways.
They range from blade putters, to mallets, to modified mallets with weight alignment wings and yes, even to a white and black two ball putter.
Some of the major features of the Versa black-and-white collection, according to the Odyssey official website, are that it:
-Accentuates Face Angle at Address - "Our new visionary high contrast alignment technology highlights the proper face angle from address to impact, allowing you to align the putter throughout your stroke."
-Highlights Face Angle throughout Stroke - "The black and white contrast lets your eyes key in on the linear designs and highlights the face angle all the way through impact."
-Improved Feel and Performance - "New and improved White Hot inserts provide more consistent sound, feel and performance across the face."
-Options for All Players: "The Versa line is offered in a variety of Tour proven head shapes with alignment aides for any type of player."
In the USA the entire Odyssey Versa range collection, regardless of the head and hosel, have a suggested retail price of $169.99 (£107)
