THE TIM CLARK DILEMMA

27-01-2010 14:53

South Africa's Tim Clark has been a regular on the PGA Tour since the start of the 2002 season. He has finished in the top ten on 36 occasions, 16 of those being top five.

In that time he has also won four Open titles worldwide: two South Africans, one Australian and one Scottish. In doing so he has defeated some high class opposition.

He has won over $20 million in prize money and represent...

IN THE PINK

09-12-2009 14:30

A couple of weeks ago I was wandering around the NEC Golf Show with one word written in permanent marker on my hand.
The word was "pink" (although it was written in black) and was a reminder that I had accepted an invitation (dress code: "anything pink") to the launch party for the website of Ladies European Tour player Breanne Loucks.

I was once told (I don't know who by, but it sounds suspic...

I'M A GOLFER GET ME OUT OF HERE!

25-11-2009 08:51

I've been watching the latest series of I'm a Celebrity this week, the jungle-based reality television show that makes, ruins or re-invigorates the careers of celebrities.

The programme has been successfully franchised right across the world and sports stars have quite a knack of doing well in it.

American decathlete Bruce Jenner, Hungarian Olympic gold medal winning swimmer Attila Czene and...

DUNHILL SUNDAY NOTEBOOK

04-10-2009 16:32

False start on Saturday

First thing yesterday I travelled south for Kingsbarns, joining a long line of cars heading towards the sea.

There was blue sky, a bright sun and as we passed the Castle course everything looked set for a great day of golf.

It all went wrong as we turned into Kingsbarns and noticed a long queue of cars going in the opposite direction: play had been cancelled...

DUNHILL NOTEBOOK: THURSDAY

Dunhill Thursday Notebook

Old Course atmosphere

I arrived in St Andrews at about five o'clock yesterday afternoon and the town and Old Course were looking magnificent in the autumn sunshine.

Soon after I arrived, Dunhill held a Media Welcome dinner in a marquee behind the 17th green and a couple of friends urged me to join them - I did so a little bit reluctantly given that I was d...

COOPER'S KAZAKH CAPERS PT.4

23-09-2009 08:33

Horses for courses

On Saturday night I was a little tired of restaurant food so headed to the local supermarket for something to eat and the first surprise was the look of the place - it was extraordinary, almost resembling a spaceship parked in the middle of a city boulevard (almost all of the roads in Almaty are tree-lined).

Inside it was rather less futuristic and the food was t...

COOPER'S KAZAKH CAPERS: PT3

19-09-2009 18:06

The continuing adventures of Matt Cooper in Kazakhstan:

Lost ball

Earlier in the week Ruben and I noticed three players and their caddies looking for a lost ball to the right of the par-five sixth hole. We made our way over to help out and immediately saw it hiding away in a place beneath a new tree that the players and caddies would never have seen.

The ball belonged to Si...

Kazakhstan Open Pro-am

I was feeling a bit wobbly as I arrived at Zhailjau for the Pro-am after a long night that involved turning one quick beer into quite a lot of long ones, plus a couple of brandies courtesy of some new Kazakh friends we made at the bar.

I had quite a few things to organise too - not least the acquisition of some clubs to play with (given that mine are, hopefully...

The Kazakhstan Open

This is the fifth time the Challenge Tour has ventured east into Kazakhstan for an event that has quickly established itself as one of the highlights of the schedule. Indeed, with its large prize fund most players view it as a Ch...
