Lefty looks a good one

29-04-2008 15:58

The feeling amongst the pros is that Quail Hollow, scene of this week's Wachovia Championship in North Carolina, is worthy of hosting a major championship.
The lengthy 7,442 yard par 72 has earned rave reviews since it started out as a regular Tour stop in 2003 and it should come as no real surprise that four of the five winners were already major champions.
Phil Mickelson is not on that list bu...

Shanghai surprise

23-04-2008 10:10

Logic dictates that those teeing it up in China for the second week in a row should have some sort of advantage.
And, indeed, when we look at how players performed in past runnings of this week's BMW Asian Open at the Tomson Pudong GC in Shanghai on the back of the Volvo China Open in Beijing, we see a strong correlation.
In 2006, Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano finished second in Beijing before going...

Don't write off cink

I've never bought into the the theory that you should automatically oppose players the week after they've been in serious contention in a Major.
Why should you? They've just played out of their skin and by playing the following week they don't really have time to stop and think about what might have been.
Andres Romero blew victory in the Open last year before blitzing the field in Germany seven...

Why my money's not on tiger

08-04-2008 13:21

Tiger Woods will probably be slipping his arms inside the Masters Green Jacket for a fifth time on Sunday. But will I be backing him at 5/4? No.
Firstly, I already have a vested interest in Woods winning this week having backed him to win the Grand Slam.
However, for those not involved in such a bet, there is the very simple matter that there are better 5/4 shots to be had at Augusta this year -...

Always say dye

25-03-2008 14:47

With just two years of course form to go on (2005 and 2007), TPC Louisiana will be pretty unfamiliar to US Tour punters looking to find the winner of this week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans.
One key piece of information is that the course was designed by Pete Dye and here's a useful description of it:
"Situated on 250 acres across the Mississippi River from New Orleans, TPC Louisiana was desig...

Let tiger fund your doral bets

18-03-2008 12:01

Tiger Woods' credentials this week are astonishing. But then so too are the odds on him winning, so how does a betting man approach this dilemma? Here's one way.
Sometimes the term "staking plan" gets used rather haphazardly so let's be certain we really mean to adhere to it this week.
The word "plan" is defined as a scheme, program, or method worked out beforehand for the accomplishment of an o...

At 5/4 tiger's not a great bet

11-03-2008 13:42

There are punters who will back Tiger Woods blindly at Bay Hill after the way he has reeled off four successive wins at the Florida course between 2000 and 2003.
And in his current form, a fifth win at Arnold Palmer's tournament is more than likely.
But there are reasons to believe that this isn't a mortgage job - namely his finishes here for the last four years.
After failing to go five straig...
